Dalke Construction workers started tearing down the Big Scoop Restaurant on Tuesday. The Big Scoop was irrevocably damaged by fire and water back in March.

Carol Riggs of Sew What Shop in Marion displays a “glamping” quilt made by co-owner Paula Perry. The fabric was designed by Mary Jane Betters of Mary Jane’s Farm. Glamping is a form of recreation in which women decorate 1940s-50s-style campers and tents with luxurious furnishings.


This pilot car, owned by Dustrol Inc., was in a head-on collision with a semi-tractor trailer, owned by Groendyke Transfers Inc. Trucking Company, on U.S. 77. Kansas Highway Patrol master trooper C. Eric Rust said there was no evidence that the pilot car attempted to stop.
