St. Luke Hospital will hold an open house Old Settlers’ Day weekend in honor of its 50th anniversary. The hospital opened Oct. 28, 1952, with a staff of 11 Sister Adorers of the Most Precious Blood, 26 beds, 10 bassinets, and two isolation units. It averaged 14 patients a day.

The first stop on the 2002 Kansas Hereford Association tour Aug. 9-10 will be at the Diamond X Hereford Ranch west of Marion, owned by Rex and Vernolis Siebert.

Marion High School students Tyler Stubenhofer, Briana Vogel, Amy Tajchman, and Courtney Geis, plus adviser Carolyn Moore, were among the 402 who attended the annual the Kansas State High Schools Association Student Council Leadership Workshop July 21-26 at Emporia.

Alex and Jean Stuchlik will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary Aug. 11 with a polka Mass at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. A reception and dinner follow at the Pilsen Community Center from 2 to 6 p.m.

Heidi Zogelman and Shawna Hett, students at Marion High School have been selected to participate with the annual Kansas Masonic All-State High School Marching Band. They are the daughters of Nick and Sharon Vogelman of Florence and David and Rhonda Hett of Marion.
