Longtime physician T.C. Ensey, Dolores Lee, and her daughter, Debbie Dunagan, are pictured at the open house at St. Luke Hospital on Old Settlers’ Day. Lee is the mother of the first baby boy born in the hospital.

Jason Matz and Shawna Hett were named Marion High School fall Homecoming King and Queen Friday at halftime of the varsity football game with Chase County.

“Beary Special Babies” born at St. Luke Hospital during the month of September include Rhain Allen Isaac, Cailey Marie Barney, Kale J. Funk, Tristan Lynee Williams, Tuesday Lou Weisbeck, and David Allen Wooldridge.

Zac Ewert set a school record Thursday at the Marion High School cross-country meet held at the Marion County Lake. Ewert’s time, according to coach Matt Robert, was 16 minutes 55 seconds.

Honoring him as grand marshal of the OSD parade, Marion paid tribute to Bill Meyer, editor of the Marion County Record, for his efforts to save St. Luke Hospital from closing by establishing Marion County Hospital District No. 1.

Valley United Methodist Church celebrated, Sunday, the 95th anniversary of the installation of its first pipe organ with an hour-long concert by vocalist Beverly Hoch and organist Burton K. Tidwell.
