Archbishop Philip M. Hannan of Focus World Network, New Orleans, La., is pictured on the front page as he interviews Herbert Miller of Pulaski, N.Y., at Pilsen Tuesday during filming of a documentary on the life of Father Emil Kapaun. Miller was the soldier Father Kapaun rescued from Korean troops and carried 30-40 miles to a POW camp.

The Hagans Library, in memory of former Marionite Frank Hagans, was dedicated in ceremonies held Friday and Saturday on the campus of Kansas State University, Manhattan.

Tomi McLinden, daughter of Tom and Audrey McLinden, and Matt Rhodes, son of Bruce and Brenda Rhodes, have been named students of the month by the Marion High School faculty.

Randee and Larry Loomis are pictured pointing to a wooded area east of their backyard fence where they both saw a mountain lion. The couple and numerous other Marion residents have reported seeing the big cat.

A number of area teachers are featured in the seventh annual edition of Who’s Who Among American Teachers, 2002. They include Sheila Baldwin, Ginger Becker, Ginger Robert, Diana Costello, and Christopher Moddelmog, Marion, and Tambra Owens, Kenneth Roe, and Lacy Wallace, Centre.
