Marion City Library will be accepting orders for engraved bricks until the end of the year. Bricks are $50 each.

The home of James and Malinda Schroeder, 202 S. Freeborn, Marion, has been selected as the third week’s winner of the outstanding holiday lighting contest sponsored by the Marion County Record. The contest runs through Dec. 25.

Students at Marion Elementary School and Marion Middle School competed last week in local geography bees sponsored by the National Geography Society. Fifth grader Eric Vogel was the winner in the MES bee, while fourth grader Kirk Hansen won the MMS bee.

Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Konecny of Pilsen will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a Mass and renewal of their marriage vows Dec. 29 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Pilsen. A family dinner will follow.

Joe and Jackie Palic of Marion are the parents of a son, Todd James, born Dec. 11 at St. Luke Hospital.

The annual Burr Oak Addition neighborhood Christmas party was held Sunday evening at the home of Caleb and Barbara Abbott. Those in attendance were Charlotte Wheeler, Martha Hood, Rodney and Diane Richmond, Jim and Donna Fruechting, David and Michelle Hett, Phoebe and Troy, and Harvey and Betty Sanders.
