Copies of the Kansas Heritage magazine’s winter edition are available at Marion City Library. Featured in the issue are items about Marion including Cap Evans Pool Hall in 1904, the Stone City mural, and the Father Kapaun monument. Chelsea Zeiner is on the cover.

Centre High School’s 2003 winter homecoming candidates are Kathleen Meek, Chelse Brunner, Stephanie Heiser, Trisha Naerebout, Curtis Gutsch, Dusty Caldwell, Derek Belton and Mark Pagenkopf. Coronation ceremonies will take place Friday.

Pulitzer Prize winning editor William Allen White will be portrayed Jan. 29 as the featured program at Marion’s Kansas Day Celebration at McGillicuddy’s Restaurant.

Marion County’s oldest business, founded during pioneer days, will make a milestone next week. Case and Son Insurance Company, Inc. will host an open house Jan. 24 to mark completion of 135 years in business.

Chief Judge Michael Powers of the Eighth Judicial District conducted a swearing-in ceremony Monday for Bob Hein, first district county commissioner, Hein was re-elected in November.
