Effective Tuesday, Marion County’s trash is now being deposited in a new landfill at Perry. Until Monday, waste from the county-owned transfer station was being dumped at Rolling Hills landfill located outside Topeka.

Ethan Scott Plenert, son of Jeff and Nichole Plenert of Hillsboro, made his appearance at 8 a.m. Jan. 28 and was deemed the 2003 New Year baby at St. Luke Hospital.

The 32nd annual meeting of St. Luke Hospital Auxiliary was held Jan. 21at Eastmoor United Methodist Church. Officers installed for the coming year were Janice Case, president; Randee Loomis, vice president; Lavonne Hannaford, secretary; and Eileen Sieger, treasurer.

Spelling Bee winners at the Marion schools were seventh grader Zach Helmstead, Marion Middle School, and Jaclyn Deforest, fifth grader, Marion Elementary School.
