Gerald Henderson, Marion-Florence USD 408 superintendent of schools, was the recipient of the United School Administrators Outstanding Service Award presented Thursday night during the organization’s annual convention in Wichita. The award is the highest honor given by the school administrators organization. Henderson has served as Marion’s superintendent for five years.

Several new construction projects are currently underway including a spec home at the intersection of Welch and Freeborn, a duplex at Coble and Denver, a new home at 320 Fink Street, and a four-room handicapped accessible motel addition directly south of the Country Inn Motel.

Senior Joel Versch and Junior Sarah Davidson have been named Marion High School’s students of the month. Joel is the son of Jim and Judy Versch. Sarah’s parents are Rose and Greg Davidson.

Cub Scout Pack 102 held its annual Pinewood Derby Jan. 28 at Holy Family Activity Center. James Jones was the winner of the Tiger Cub Division. Open Division winners were Wil Case, first place, and Travis Williams, best design. More than 40 scouts participated in the event.
