Yellow ribbons showing support for United States forces overseas soon will be seen in Marion. The City of Marion received a request from Marion Elementary School to allow third graders to tie yellow ribbons around trees in Central Park. Acting mayor Larry McLain said he thought the ribbons were a great idea.
Several doors on a semi-trailer came open on East Main Street Monday causing hundreds of cartons of Coors beer to tumble out into the street. The foaming brew could be seen pouring from broken cans and running along the gutter.
An article in this issue tells about the life of Norma Hannaford, longtime Marion resident, who is looking forward to celebrating her 99th birthday on April 10.
Quaid Nelson Conyers, son of Jeff and Lisa Conyers of Westminster, Colo., and grandson of Keith and Mary Ann Conyers of Marion, was born March 13 at a hospital in Louisville, Colo.
Jenny Groening, daughter of Gordon and Shirley Groening of Marion, and Aaron Acree, son of Ken and Karen Price of Washington and Bill and Mary Beth Acree of Topeka, were married Dec. 21 at Eastmoor United Methodist Church.
