Kevin Cochran of KWCH, Channel 12, and Craig Lee of KAKE, Channel 10, Wichita, were in town Friday afternoon to film third grade students as they placed yellow ribbons throughout the downtown area in honor of men and women of the Armed Forces.

Fifty-five new permanent poles have been purchased by James William Miesse American Legion Post #22 to replace the flimsy flagpoles at Marion Cemetery. The flags that fly at the cemetery each Memorial Day are funeral flags of deceased veterans donated by their families.

Geoff and Meggan Silhan Daniel of Wichita announce the birth on March 21 of their first child, a daughter, Claire Elizabeth, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. Maternal grandparents are Terry and Kathy Silhan of Pilsen.

Four Marion businesses are listed in the Best of Breads in Kansas directory published by the Kansas Wheat Commission. They are Carlsons’ IGA, Kingfisher’s Inn, McGillicuddy’s Restaurant, and Stone City Café.

Pictured are the six seniors on Coach Sean Spootz’s MHS baseball team. They are Matt Rhodes, Bronson Shipman, Mitch Enos, Mohammad Rezaie, Eric Smith, and Jason Matz. According to the coach, the team is set for another appearance in the state 3A tournament.
