Carlsons’ IGA will now be known as Carlsons’ Grocery. The Marion supermarket has switched warehouses, or in other words, changed its principal supplier. Affiliated Foods Midwest will be the new supplier.

Reports coming from area elevator managers and farmers indicate an excellent harvest is underway in Marion County.

A group of people in Marion is trying hard to see if the establishment of a movie theater in Marion is feasible. Committee members are Jeff Cady, Judge Mike Powers, Jami Williams, Gene Winkler, Mickey Lundy, and Susan Cooper.

The Father Emil Kapaun Memorial Scholarship has been presented to Brian Bina, son of Laverne and Harriet Bina, Marion, and Cecilia Rziha, daughter of Gerald and Jean Rziha, Tampa. The scholarship is given to graduating seniors of Marion County high schools who exemplify characteristics shown by Father Kapaun.

The “Come-Join-Us” Sunday school class at Eastmoor United Methodist Church enjoyed a “Hobo Party” Thursday evening at the country home of Gene and Phyllis Enos. The committee in charge consisted of Dorothy Conyers, Rosie Plenert, Janet Reno, Gene and Marge Christensen, and the hosts.
