Two Marion High School students, Andrew Holt and Justin Brookens, made a report Monday to Marion Kiwanis Club about their experiences at Boys’ State. Jared Kirkpatrick also attended Boys’ State, but was unable to be present Monday.

In a photo on the front page, Bradley Krause is pictured in 1984 in his uncle Melvin Krause’s 1940 Chevrolet truck. The old truck, now gussied up, is pictured as it is now, a soda-pop stand at Celebration City, near Silver Dollar City, Mo.

Stephanie Koop, daughter of Larry and Teresa Goodwin of Burns, and Nicholas Kraus, son of Don and Vickie Kraus of Marion, were married March 22 at First Mennonite Church, Hillsboro. The couple resides in rural Marion.

The “California Girls” were in Marion Friday to speak before a gathering honoring service workers of the various branches of Butler County Community College. Dressed in old-fashioned schoolmistress outfits, Jessica Gilbert and Pat Wick talked about country schools of the past.

Andrea Carlson of Lincolnville was chosen as first attendant to Rachel Collier of Alta Vista, the 2003 Tri-County 4-H Queen. Andrea is the daughter of Duane and Karen Carlson.
