The Marion Advancement Campaign is a newly formed public foundation whose goal is to promote Marion through quality-of-life enhancement. The first product taken on by the foundation is The Legend Theater and an adjacent community center.

Gerald W. Henderson will step down at the end of this school year, after six years at the helm of Marion-Florence USD 408.

Anniversary celebrations reported in this issue include those of June and Lois Jost, 65th; joint celebration of Bud and Lavonne Hannaford, 50th, and Mike and Gayle (Hannaford) Thomas, 25th; and Harold and Georgene (Tajchman) Byram of Haysville, 50th.

Marion High School junior Chelsea Arnhold is shown displaying a bowl she made using scraps from pallet waste wood found in a Dumpster. A 4-H project, the bowl has won local and state 4-H honors.

Two Marion County students are among the 1,500 in the Honors Program at the University of Kansas. They are seniors Bailey Skiles, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Skiles of Marion, and Heather Matz, daughter of Reg and Rene Matz of Hillsboro.
