Joyce Lacock of Marion was chosen as the grand prize winner in the “Christmas in Marion” promotion that ended Saturday. Lacock will receive $400 in gift certificates from participating businesses. Other winners were Michelle Glahn of Marion second, $300; Janice Peter, Marion, third, $200; and Ruth Lange, Marion, fourth, $100. One $50 winner was chosen each week. They were Raymond Bina, Denise Crabb, Ty Waner, and Dorothy Gilbert.

Kelley Schafers of Marion recently was recognized at an all-staff training, recognition and Christmas celebration for five years of service at Northiew Developmental Services, Inc.

The annual New Year’s Eve ball drop and lighting celebration will be repeated this year according to organizer Dave Hett. The ball will drop promptly at midnight and everyone is invited to begin gathering between 11:15 and 11:45 p.m. on the courthouse lawn.

Marion Elementary School fourth grade students presented Neal Whitaker, park ranger with the U.S. Corps of Engineers at Marion Reservoir, with four owl houses to be placed at Marion Reservoir. The houses were built by the fourth graders with the help of Marion High School FFA members. Pictured are Whitaker and fourth graders Victoria Steiner, Anne Jirak, Samantha Stika, and Trevor Fugit.
