Interviews are being conducted this week with five candidates for superintendent of schools in Marion-Florence USD 408. Candidates are Doug Powers of Shawnee, Drew Harris of Burrton, Randl G. Rivers of Alma, Lee Leiker of Johnson, and Donald E. Blome of Burlingame. The final interview will be held Tuesday.

2004 Winter Homecoming candidates at Centre High School are Andrea Carlson, Laura Klenda, Trisha Pauls, Amanda Kleiber, Brent Carlson, Travis Burns, Aaron Barney, and Eric Peterson. The king and queen will be crowned Friday before the varsity game against Solomon.

Nine different groups of items donated by Chamber of Commerce members were auctioned Monday evening at the organization’s annual dinner. More than $1,000 was raised for the chamber.

Marion Cub Scout Pack 102 and Tiger Cubs competed Sunday in the annual Pinewood Derby. Winners in the Cub Scout division were Patrick Hodson, first; Dylan Goebel, second; and Christian Czarnowsky, third. Braden Fahey took first in the Tiger division, with Jacob Baldwin, second; and Nathan Cyr, third.

St. Luke Hospital will be sponsoring a logo contest beginning Feb. 4 to replace the logo belonging to Banner Health Systems.
