A resolution was approved Monday by Marion County Commission for a question to be placed on the November ballot regarding liquor-by-the-drink. A request to change county law to allow Sunday beer sales was denied.

Marion High School’s top three golfers bought home two of three individual titles from the Hillsboro Invitational Golf Tournament Thursday. Marion’s golfers are senior Nickolas Hett, freshman Travis Hett, and junior Nick Carlson.

Martin Tice was officially sworn in as mayor at the beginning of Monday’s meeting of the Marion City Commission. Eloise Mueller did not seek re-election after serving a three-year term as mayor.

Six Marion High School seniors have been awarded scholarships by Washburn University. Clayton Chamberland, Tracy Khounsavanh, Caitlin O’Dell and Amy Tajchman each received academic scholarships. Erin Fruechting received a music scholarship, and Rebecca Savage received academic and valedictorian scholarships.

Cold and damp weather kept attendance down Saturday at the annual Marion Community Easter Egg hunt in Central Park.
