Buttons are available for the eighth annual Chingawassa Days June 4-6 at Marion Central Park. Headliner for the June 5 evening performance will be the Little River Band.

James H. Brosemer, a prominent Florence businessman, died Monday in a tragic two-vehicle accident on U.S. 50. Owner of the Brosemer Land Surveying, Brosemer was well known in the Marion County area and throughout the state as a land surveyor.

Janie Meierhoff, manager of Marion Duckwall’s, recently was recognized for 25 years of service.

Steve and Phoebe Janzen of Florence will be hosts to an exchange student from Germany this fall. Anika Wegner of Essen, Germany, will arrive in August and attend Marion High School for the upcoming school year.

Sixth grader Emily Rogers was the winner of this year’s Marion Elementary School spelling bee. Drew Knolla, four grader, took second place.

Stephanie Harris, daughter of John and Becky Summerville of Marion, has been named “Teacher of the Year” at Southeast of Saline Elementary School. She has taught kindergarten for eight years and first grade for two years.
