A weekend of events is on tap for Marion residents and visitors with the culmination at 9 p.m. Saturday when Little River Band performs. The festival is made possible by the donations from local businesses, individuals, City of Marion, Marion Chamber of Commerce, and button sales.

World War II veteran Ed Costello spoke Monday at Marion Cemetery during Memorial Day services honoring veterans who gave the ultimate sacrifice — their lives.

Six Marion High School Warriors were named to the CVL All League team for softball. They are Whitney Wear, Caitlin O’Dell, Sarah Williams, Emmy Bowers, and Leann Thomas.

St. John Nepomucene Church of Holy Family Parish will celebrate the second annual Father Kapaun Day Sunday at Pilsen. The special day is a celebration of the life and service of Father Emil Kapaun, a native of Pilsen, who died May 25, 1951, in a prison camp in North Korea.

Jandee Moore of Marion was appointed Friday as postmaster of the Burns Post Office.

George and Carol Poppe of Burlington, Wash., recently donated a copy of “The Poppe Family History” to the Marion Library. The Poppes were early residents of Lincolnville.
