Banner Health Systems will transfer management duties to Marion County Hospital District No. 1 board of directors Oct. 1.

Descendants of Frank and Rebecca McHenry Burkholder met July 3-4 for a family reunion at the Earl and Frances Hett farm south of Marion. Seventy-two of the 144 descendants attended.

Marion Kiwanis Club has chosen the theme of “65th Anniversary of Marion County Park and Lake” for the 2004 Old Settlers’ Day parade. The theme was chosen to commemorate the construction of the lake by Civilian Conservation Corps workers.

The family of Sylvia Bezdek requests a card shower July 24 to honor her on the occasion of her 80th birthday.

Roger and Lavonne Hannaford, Mike and Gayle Thomas, Adam Thomas and Ryan Thomas spent the July 4 weekend in Topeka attending the wedding of the Hannafords’ grandson, Mike Helmer, and Kristina Anderson.

Jay A. Sandwell, a 1985 graduate of Marion High School, has been promoted to the rank of master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. Sandwell, a standards and evaluations superintendent with 18 years of military service, is assigned to Air Force Flights Standards Agency, Detachment One, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He is the son of Kenneth and Marjorie Sandwell of Marion.
