Nearly a foot of rain fell in parts of Marion County this past week causing flooding on most county roads and in fields.

Marion High School band students will have the opportunity to take a year-end trip to Worlds of Fun in Kansas City, Missouri.

Marion County Fair officially opens Aug. 4 at the fairgrounds in Hillsboro with the theme of “Let the Good Times Soar.”

Brad and Patty Putter and family will host Jerry Kwok, who will arrive in Marion in August and be a student at Marion High School for the coming year.

The announcement of the wedding anniversaries of Harlow and Edith Warneke, 60 years; George and Patsy Waner, 50 years; and Gertrude and Bob Ray, 60 years, appear in this week’s Marion County Record.

The Marion High School boys’ basketball team finished second this past weekend in a Mid-America Youth Basketball tournament held in the local gymnasium. Team members are Dale Vogel, Adam Heerey, Nick Carlson, Tyson Heidebrecht, Kevin Costello, Russell Plotz, Jason Hett, and Travis Hett. The team is coached by Doug Heerey.

The annual Old Settlers’ Day this year will commemorate the 65th anniversary of the completion of the Marion County Lake by members of the Civilian Conservation Corps.
