Approximately 130 walkers participated Saturday in the 12-hour Relay for Life at Warrior Stadium in Marion. The event raised $23, 773 for the American Cancer Society, beating the 2003 total of $15, 700 by $8,000.

Five friends, 1956 graduates of Marion High School and friends since the age of two, recently held a reunion in Santa Fe, N.M. Kay Navrat of Santa Fe played host to Judy Coons Gourley of Rogue River, Ore., Connie Long Harrington of Bonner Springs, Carmen Siebert Huson of Weston, Fla., and Nancy Keazer Kastor of Reno, Nev. Deloris Reed Mehlinger of Topeka and Billie Herbert Schroeder of Wichita and Lincoln, Neb., were unable to attend.

The Conyers family met July 23 to 26 in Branson, Mo., for its sixth triennial reunion. Attending were 105 family members and guests.

The CVL baseball team of 14-year-olds recently won two of its four games in a high school tournament in Wichita. Team members include Clayton Garnica, Calvin Jeffrey, Logan Richmond, Chase Carlson, Clinton Jeffrey, and Justin Heidebrecht of Marion. Other team members are from Chase County, Hillsboro, and Peabody. The team is coached by Allan Richmond and Mike Jeffrey. Colton Jeffrey is batboy.

Tampa is planning its Santa Fe Trail and Christmas celebrations.
