Jennifer Montgomery’s English classroom at Centre High School has been brightened with a wall mural painted by her brother, Bryan Davies of Marion. “I wanted a whimsical image of literature on my wall to help students see how great English can be,” Montgomery said.

Announced in this issue is the birth on August 2 of a daughter, Hannah Jo, to Steve and Missy Stubenhofer May of Marion.

Chuck McLinden will present a talk on the past, present and future of the Marion County Fair at the Sept. 4 meeting of Chat and Dine Club. McLinden serves as president of the fair board.

Mark Meyer, agricultural science instructor at Marion High School, attended the Kansas Career and Technical Education Conference Aug. 1-4 in Overland Park. He represented the Kansas Association of Agriculture Educators.

Brian Bina, a sophomore at Emporia State University, has received a $3,700 scholarship from the Clara Abbott Foundation. Bina is pursuing a degree in accounting with a minor in Spanish. He is the son of Laverne and Harriet Bina.
