Somewhere between Sept. 10 and 15 video equipment estimated to value at $8,440 was stolen from the press box at Marion Stadium. Also stolen, from the stadium concession stand, was a large quantity of candy bars.

The 65th anniversary of the building of Marion County Park and Lake will be the theme of this year’s Old Settlers’ Day Friday and Saturday. Grand marshals of the parade will be John Waner, former lake superintendent, preservationists Dwight and Helen Beckham, and Dale Snelling, current superintendent.

Marion High School “Warrior of the Week” is senior Tyson Heidebrecht. Heidebrecht had four tackles and helped anchor an offensive line that gained 248 yards rushing in the Warriors 28-14 victory Friday over Sterling.

Cindy and Mike Ragland have moved their firearms business to Marion. They purchased Flint Hills Firearms from Carl and Juanita Stovall this past October and have been operating it there until now. They now are located in the former Klenda and Karstetter office at 500 E. Main.

Spectators will see a proud cowboy ride in the Old Settlers’ Day parade. Retired sheriff and Marion resident June Jost says, “This year’s ride will be the first time in at least 30 years since I rode in the parade.”
