Audrey McLinden of Marion was the first winner Friday evening in an “early bird” drawing of the “Christmas in Marion” promotion. Jean Stuchlik is pictured presenting a $100 gift certificate to McLinden.

Also pictured is 3-year-old Luke Lanning as he sits on Santa’s lap and gives him the list of what he would like for Christmas.

Bob and Judy Priest, who reside at the Marion County Lake, were hosts to international students from Pakistan and China during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. The Priests host students from the University of Kansas as part of the Homestay program and the People to People program at the university.

Marion High School will have seven seniors on this year’s girls’ basketball team. They are Sarah Williams, Jill Hannaford, Katie Zogelman, Chelsi Carlson, Molly Rhodes, Leann Thomas, and Amber Richmond.

City Clerk Linda Holub reported to Marion City Commissioners Monday that 30 people have signed up for $10 savings on their city utility bills for displaying Christmas lights. She said there were 270 people who took advantage of the refund in 2003.

Descendants of John and Rena Hett met at noon Thursday at the Aulne church for their annual Thanksgiving dinner.
