Four members of the Kansas Air National Guard presented colors April 26 at the fourth, fifth, and sixth grade spring music concert. The servicemen carried U.S. and Kansas flags to the front of the gym at the beginning of the concert while students sang the national anthem.
This week’s photo of a concrete rhinoceros, chosen as the mascot of Chingawassa Days committee, is pictured as it stands in front of the Jerry Cady Agency at 104 N. Fifth. Since the agency deals with agriculture customers, “Chinga-Bell” is decorated as a Holstein cow.
Senior students recognized this week in the Marion High School “Senior Profiles” are Nick Carlson, Josh Smith, and Kevin Costello.
Iva Hett Unruh is pictured in a feature story by Rowena Plett. Unruh is standing in front of the building that is headquarters for Martin-Marietta rock quarry north of Marion. The building originally was the Williams School where Unruh taught for three years following high school.
Katie Zogelman, Marion High School senior, and her parents, Nick and Sharon Zogelman of Florence, are pictured following a banquet in Wichita where Katie received an academic scholarship from Washburn University.
