Soldiers with the Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit from Fort Riled are pictured exchanging a box containing a practice hand grenade found Thursday in a student’s locker at Marion Middle School. Upon discovery of the grenade, school and law enforcement officials evacuated MMS students to Marion High School until EOD technicians had removed it. The technicians reported the grenade did not contain an explosive charge.

Marion High School wrestlers Cody Wildin, Dillon Wildin, Charlie Holub, and John Barr III finished in the top four of their weight divisions Saturday at the Burlington regional, earning trips to the state tournament this weekend in Hays.

U.S. Army Sgt. Heather Holub Mitchell recently was selected as U.S. Army Veterinary Corps Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year. In a ceremony at Fort Carson, Colorado, Army Spec. Molly Holub was awarded a Purple Heart and an Army Commendation Medal with Valor for combat in Iraq. Both are daughters of Dan and Rhonda Holub of Marion.

Christie Coleman and Paul Hodson have been named Marion High School students of the month for February. Coleman is the daughter of Chris and Charlotte Coleman of Marion. Hodson is the son of Don Hodson and Tonya Hodson of Marion.
