Trick Pony fans will not be disappointed Saturday when the band takes the stage during Chingawassa Days in Central Park. The Callahan Band will perform at 7 p.m. and Trick Pony will take the main stage at 9 p.m. A fireworks show will follow.

Two couples announcing the celebration of their 50th wedding anniversaries are Royal and Mary (Sangwin) Smith of Marion and Dwight and Donna (Williams) Fruechting of Salina.

The Greensburg tornado has brought the Chris and Lanissa Hammond family to Marion. The family recently lost their home and all of their belongings in the tornado that hit Greensburg on May 4. The family now resides on East Denver in Marion.

The concrete rhinoceros at Mike and Judy Powers’ home is all decked out in his Elvis Presley jumpsuit and ready for Chingawassa Days. The glitzy rhino, complete with a black pompadour, was the winner of the decorating contest for local rhinos in preparation of the community festival.

Accomplished craftsman Mark Wilcox of rural Marion has shifted his focus from making furniture to making violins. Wilcox will demonstrate his playing ability and the beauty of the violin during Chingawassa Days.

MHS girls’ track team finished fourth at the state track meet in Wichita this past weekend. The boy’s team finished seventh.
