Marion High School graduates Dr. John Loney and his wife, Dr. Teri Loney, of Sunrise Beach, Missouri, and Dr. Linda Loney, along with her husband, Dr. Tom Cooper of Newton, Massachusetts, recently traveled to Pisco, Peru, on a medical relief mission to care for victims of an earthquake that occurred in August 2007.

John, Linda, and Tom were the only American medical doctors on the team, and Teri served as the only psychologist.

The Rhino Capital is about to increase its herd. The Chinga Committee is placing an order for more Rhino statues. If you’d like to join the Rhino Revolution and have a statue for your home or business, call the chamber office.

Central Park Improvement Committee received two donations this past week for new playground equipment in Central Park.

Pictured are Pastor Phil Smith of Marion’s Valley United Methodist Church, donating a $500 check, a portion of proceeds from the church’s annual Lord’s Acre dinner, and Lucy Collett, presenting a $240 check from the Marion High School student council, proceeds of a fund-raiser for the project.

Marion High School girls’ basketball team defeated Hillsboro Tuesday night in the first round of sub-state play. They will play Friday at Hillsboro in second round action.
