Public comments at the Monday afternoon meeting of the Marion County Commission threw obstacles in the plan of Jim and Debra Whitfill to lease half of the county lake hall for a café, construct cabins to rent, and provide watercraft rentals (paddleboats, kayaks, and other human-powered water vessels).

U.S. Army Sgt. Mark Raleigh will be welcomed home at 2 p.m. Saturday at VFW Post 6958. Sgt. Raleigh, son of Robert and Mary Raleigh of Marion, recently completed a tour in Iraq.
