After the votes were tallied from Tuesday’s election, incumbent Bill Holdeman and Steven Smith were elected to the Marion City Council. The other two candidates, Gerald Henderson and Katherine DeFilippis had 191 and 161 votes, respectively, and Gerald Kline had 165 write-in votes.

Marion City Council met in special session Friday afternoon and approved the installation of spray features at the new indoor swimming pool.

A group of nine people traveled to Topeka March 19 to witness Governor Kathleen Sebelius sign a proclamation designating March 31 as “CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) Recognition Day” in Kansas. The group included Bill and Feebie Holdeman, Helen and Dwight Beckham, and Rowena Plett, reporter for the Marion County Record.
