Don Dahl, current State Represtentative of District 70, has decided not to seek another term. Three candidates, Bob Brookens and Roger Hannaford III, both of Marion, and Bill Spangler of Burns, have filed for the position.

Margaret Wilson is pictured as she looks at hand-carved crosses made and for sale by Eugene Enos at Marion’s first farmers’ market. Although it was the first time for the market in Marion, it was successful in the eyes of the committee.

Marion Police Chief Josh Whitwell asked Marion City Council Monday to consider a smoking ban in Central Park. Whitwell said he had received complaints from people regarding smoking during Chingawassa Days.

Dave Crofoot of Western Associates of Marion has received a merit award from Kansas Commerce Secretary David Kerr. Western Associates was recognized by the state for its contributions to the Marion community and the state’s economy. Other merit award winners from Marion County were Circle D Corporation and Elcon Services, Inc., both of Hillsboro, and Sticks and Twigs of Burns.
