Greta Smith is pictured as she served as the target of whipped cream pies Saturday evening at the Marion Elementary School carnival. The popular booth allowed students to throw pie tins of whipped cream at willing participants. The annual family night was sponsored by the Parents Advisory Council.

Sixty degree temperatures found John McKee taking advantage of the warm weather to wash his car at his house on North Cedar in Marion. Spring-like weather disappeared Sunday with dime to penny-size hail remaining on the ground Monday morning because temperatures remained below freezing during the night.

MHS Athlete of the Week is Randy Regnier. Although Randy lost in his final two matches as a Warrior, he posted a record of 35-5 and was the Beloit Regional champion in the 125-pound class this season.

Kenneth Ratzlaff, 1967 Tabor College alum, will share photos and stories from his work at the Amundsen-Scott Station located at the South Pole on Monday at the second session of the Learning in Retirement program at Tabor College.

Marion High School senior Patrick Hodson placed first individually among seniors and overall in the fifth annual McPherson College math competition on Feb. 23. Goessel High School junior Jeff Hall placed second in his division.

Robert Nelson, district deputy grand master of the Masons, is pictured Feb. 23 as he presents 50-year pins and certificates to Bud Hannaford and Jerry Harp of Centre Lodge No. 147, A.F. & A.M.

The Sassy Silk Hatters recently celebrated their seventh anniversary at a party and valentine exchange at the Hub in Peabody. Those in attendance were Irene Pohlman, Mary Del Vecchio, Sally Matz, Marilyn Cox, Ruth Topham, Ruth Lott, Bev Wilson, Ruth Demain, and Dinah Richmond.
