William Jennings Bryan spent yesterday forenoon in Marion and, speaking from an automobile, addressed a large crowd in front of the Elgin Hotel. It always is a pleasure to hear W.J. Bryan, for he not only is a great orator, but a great American citizen as well.

Mr. E.R. Trenner, one of Marion’s oldest citizens, passed away last Monday morning after a brief illness. He had a complication of typhoid fever and pneumonia, his death being occasioned chiefly by the latter disease.

If you ride a wheel in Marion at night without a light, don’t be surprised when you are arrested and under the present ordinance you can not ride on any sidewalk in this city at any time without being subject to a fine. — V.E. Healea, City Marshall.

Henry Roberts went up to the grave of Ed Miller near the west line of the county last week and helped erect the monument which he had had made. Mr. Roberts was one of the men in the searching party who found the body of Ed Miller after he had been murdered by the Indians and because of his interest in seeing these historical facts preserved erected this monument at his own expense. It is a generous act in the interest of an excellent cause.
