The Chautauqua program opened Monday afternoon with a concert by Bosh’s Bohemian band. Marion is always glad to hear this excellent band. Under the capable leadership of Mr. Bosh, they have attained a degree of excellence which is especially to be commended when one remembers that the band is composed of busy men, mostly farmers, who gather from many miles for practice after the day’s work is over.

Work will start next week. And, of course, that refers to work on the paving. Mr. Stanton of the contracting firm was here last week and says they will be on the grounds on Tuesday. The first paving will be laid at the Post Office corner and will proceed westward.

Mrs. John Roe won the first prize—a Chautauqua ticket—for marketing the most produce and John Mehl the second prize—also a Chautauqua ticket, for marketing the most eggs last Saturday at the Jensen Produce House.

The Case families enjoyed a picnic supper at the Ehrlich Mill one evening the past week, making the trip in J.D. Revo’s big motor boat. By the way, there is a mighty good boat. It has a splendid engine and, of course, Revo knows how to run it. A motor boat trip down the Cottonwood makes a delightful ways to spend an evening.
