The Marion football team went to Newton yesterday and trimmed the Newton team, 66 to 0. But, why fool longer with these small towns like Newton? Let’s take on something that’s in our class.

The Farmers’ Institute will meet in Marion Nov. 11 and 12. There will be an agricultural exhibit on the second day. A small entry fee for exhibitors will be asked, to help pay the prizes.

D.D. McIntosh, who has served as postmaster for over four years, has received notice of his re-appointment. The whole community is pleased with his re-appointment.

A number of farmers are husking corn, From what we hear, it is making from 25 to 40 bushels per acre.

A heavy hitching rail has been placed on the north and east sides of the court house grounds. All the hitching posts are off of Main street but ample posts will be provided on the side streets. By taking the posts off of Main not only will Main be better kept and less danger of accidents exist but it will be easier for farmers to drive up to the stores and unload produce.

John Greer is making extensive improvements at his place—moving the barn, building a fruit cellar, a new cistern, etc.

There is a spelling match every Saturday night at the Lincolnville schoolhouse. They would like to see a better attendance and invite all who can act like gentlemen and gentlewomen to turn out.
