MORE

december 25, 1913

It is a week until New Year’s, but you might turn over that leaf now, if you feel that way about it.

Dr. L.S. Wagar was here from Florence last Saturday. He has traded his three eighties to Jas. Ely for the latter’s property at Roswell, New Mexico. It is understood that the Ely family will move back to Marion County — hope this is true. Marion would like mighty well to have them make their home here.

A lot of work has been done in cleaning the streets since last week. But, the Record is entirely too modest to claim any credit for it. It had been planned, of course, for a long time, but the Commissioner just got around to it.

Frank Griffith has in the window of his shop a mounted Chinese pheasant which his brother Lee sent him from Washington. It certainly is a beautiful bird.

The fellow that took those things from a suitcase that was in a buggy at Youngtown last Sunday evening would better return them right away if he doesn’t want to be prosecuted. The articles consisted of a watch fob, gold cuff buttons and watch pin marked “J,” a brooch with ruby center surrounded by brilliants, and a pearl bar pin. They belonged to Miss Jessie Adams — who gets her mail from the Marion post office — and must be returned to her at once. If they are returned at once nothing more will be done about it. Otherwise, there is trouble ahead for the guilty party.
