The anti-speeding ordinance will have to be made to perform if some of the reckless driving that has been going on is not stopped. A bicycle rider the other day had a narrow escape from serious injury, and through no fault of his. An auto turned a corner, going about 20 miles an hour and he was crowded against the curb and thrown, but luckily escaped with only slight bruises. And, there is getting to be lot of that sort of thing. Thoughtlessness is no excuse.

The local G.A.R. Post was chartered in 1882 and was the 42nd Post chartered in Kansas. There are now 498 Posts in the state. Wm. Pollock, for whom the Post was named, enlisted Aug. 2, 1861, at Petersburg, Ill., and entered active service as a corporal of Co. F, 28th Illinois Volunteer Infantry. He was killed in battle at Jackson, Miss., July 12, 1863.

Mrs. J.S. Brooks entertained five little girls Tuesday afternoon at a party for her little daughter, Ruby. The guests were Marian Quisenberry, Mildred McIntosh, Marie Keazer, Louise Williamson, and Harriet Smith.

The Juniors gave a royal reception and banquet to the Faculty and members of the Senior Class on Tuesday evening. The entertainment of the later part of the evening was a “Farce Carnival,” with all the interesting features of the bowling alley, photo gallery, spirit in the well, red lemonade stand, hall of fame and fortune-telling stand done with fine art and bright foolery.
