Phone calls at the H.S. building for pupils have become so frequent that it will be necessary to enforce the rule that pupils will be called only in cases of necessity, and the person in charge at the office will be the judge as to whether the case is one of necessity. The interruption caused by calling pupils from classes to answer phone calls is very undesirable.

Miss August Pope won second prize at the State Fair last week on a handmade shirtwaist trimmed in tatting.

There has been considerable misapprehension concerning the matter of the closing hour for the stores on Saturday evening. The only purpose of the movement, started by one of the Sunday Schools of the town, was to see if it would be possible to fix some reasonable hour for closing. A custom has grown up of keeping open until eleven, or in many instances until midnight.

Harry Rogers opened his picture show in the Rogers building at the west end of Main street, last night.

Henry Allen, the Progressive party candidate for governor, will be in Marion at 5 p.m. Friday. He is one of the finest public speakers in Kansas and should be greeted by a large crowd.

The Dr. Smith house is coming along fine. And whoever built that foundation has reason to be proud. It is one of the nicest looking pieces of work in town.
