There was certainly some debatin’ among the schools in this county last Friday. There were six debates on that evening with the same question debated in all. The debate here was between Lost Springs and Marion and the Marion debaters got a unanimous decision. Marion debaters were Lucy Martin and Mary Sacket and the Lost Springs debaters were Lester Mowrer and Faye Mowrer.

Ralph Bryan has bought an interest in the Walker Bros. establishment and invoicing has been in progress this week.

The Co. Commissioners have allowed George Turner, Supt. of the County Farm, one hundred dollars a year, payable quarterly, for help in the house. The number of people there who cannot work necessitates some additional help in the housework.

Since the country roads are so muddy everyone has taken to horseback riding, which really looks nicer than running an automobile anyway.

A number of the rural schools of the county are putting in hotbeds preparatory to putting out plants and vegetables of various sorts. One of the first, if not the first school in the county, to promote this fine work is the Williams school southeast of Marion. Miss Nola Woods is the teacher. Vegetables raised in this way were used by the students for lunch this winter. Lunch is cooked at the school—another fine thing, by the way.
