L.F. Schlotz, who lives ten miles east of town, was here this morning. Speaking of the condition of the roads recently, he said, “No, I hardly think that they were ever worse. I came to town one day in a spring wagon and the axles touched the ground.” And, he has the reputation of being a truthful man, too.

Al Nienstedt is installing an electric light plant at his country home and he is putting in one of the best plants on the market. He will use a four-horse power engine, using either kerosene or gasoline, and will have lights in his house, barn and all other buildings. He figures that he will have to run the engine once a week for perhaps six or seven hours, in order to charge the batteries for the week. At the same time, the engine will run the washing machine and perhaps other machinery. A plant of this size, fifty light capacity, will cost complete, including the installation and the fixtures, about five hundred dollars. But, after the first cost, it will not be very expensive. And, in convenience and service the value would be hard to compute.

A call has been sent to Lost Springs, Lincolnville, Tampa, Peabody and Florence for a meeting on Friday afternoon of this week for the purpose of organizing a county baseball league. There will be a city league and it is hoped that a good county league will be organized so that there will be “something doing” in the baseball line here this summer.
