Charley O’Bryant has organized a town orchestra which consists largely of the younger musicians of the town. They are taking up their work with enthusiasm. Mr. O’Bryant is worthy of commendation in this fine enterprise.

Winkley Bros. have taken over the Old Santa Fe Trail garage and will conduct the two places.

W.W. Loveless and Sons have made an assignment for the benefit of their creditors, and the store was closed at noon to-day and is in the hands of the assignee, Sam Burkholder. A business tragedy of this sort tests the fibre of a community. In the spirit of neighborliness, of fairness, of consideration, this town will meet the test.

A new fire bell has been installed in the high school building and a fire alarm may be expected at any time.

The local Highs opened the football season last Friday afternoon with an easy victory over the Herington team. Marion’s big ground gainers were Noce, Pierce, Bowlby and Loveless.

The Santa Fe-Shriver injunction suit, from Florence, which has been pending for two or three years, was decided this week by Judge King, his conclusions of fact and law sustaining the railroad’s contention. The question involved the taking of water from the Cottonwood for the railroad engines.
