It was a great crowd that gathered at the Old Settlers’ Picnic last Friday — easily the largest that has ever met in the history of the Association. Hundreds of people had picnic dinner in the Park. The program continued in the afternoon, the first speaker being John Madden. Old Settlers Picnic is a great affair and with proper attention, it will continue to grow in size and in interest.

The first poultry taken in by the Seymour Packing Co here was delivered at the plant yesterday morning. By Wednesday of next week, it is expected that the plant will be in full operation. The manager of the plant is Mr. P.N. Rees, who has been with the Seymour people for 10 to 15 years.

Finding that the primary departments are going to be so crowded — a condition which has been growing from bad to worse — the school board is having erected south of the Hill building a temporary building 20x32 feet in size to accommodate one of the rooms.

The new German Baptist church at Strassburg was dedicated last Sunday. The building cost $4,200.00 and is all paid for with the exception of $1,600.00. It has a basement and is all arranged in moderns style including an electric light plant of their own. Rev. J.A. Pankratz preached the dedicatory sermon.
