The numbering of houses, because of free mail delivery, will be based on Main and First streets as initial points. All streets running east and west numbered east and west from First street.

Two young men living here went to Kansas City one day last week and as officers had reason to suspect they went for booze, they were met at the night train on which they returned and placed under arrest. Each one was bringing with him several quarts of whisky. Both are in jail awaiting trial. Mere possession is a crime. And the minimum penalty is $100 and 30 days in jail.

Frank Kasper and Alex Ehrlich have taken the Marion agency for the Maxwell car.

A Tacky party was given on Tuesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Riggs for the benefit of the Aid Society of the Christian church. Mrs. Mary Duvall was awarded the prize on her costume.

A marriage license was issued this week to Wm. F. Vinduska and Christina A. Lentz, both of the Marion neighborhood.

The county commissioners have appointed R.C. Smith as coroner in place of Dr. Coffman who resigned owing to his appointment in the army.
