The Chautauqua this season, as expressed by nearly everybody, has been the most uniformly good throughout any we have ever had. The lectures were all of high order, instructive, patriotic, and inspirational. The entertainers, Cavany and Jess Pugh, were individually liked. The play on Saturday night, “Nothing But the Truth” was excellent. And, financially, the local committee came out in good shape.

Work was begun on Monday on the new front for the Propp and Curtis auto sales room next door to the Record office.

The test on the Piper 80 in the west half of the southwest quarter of section 16-21-4 came in this morning and is flowing over the top. This news is especially interesting here for several men here — C.C. Johnson, Jake Haas, F.H.P. Smith. I.B. Huenergardt, John Gardner and John Propp, with some Clay Center parties — own the eighth royalty on the lease.

Walter Seely is driving a new Dodge car.

Dr. Milton H. Good and family of Kitchener, Ontario, are expected here the last of the week for a visit with Messrs. Josiah and J.E. Good and their families. The Milton Goods are making the trip by auto to Long Beach, California.

Mrs. S.W. Williamson entertained at six o’clock dinner Sunday for her sons, Broder and Ferd Williamson, the guests being Jack Thompson, Leo and Sylver Brose, Alfred Loveless, Jay Beaston, Howard Loveless, Cedric Smith, Roger Hannaford, Kenneth Rhodes, James Blackim, and Orville Powell.
