The special election Monday on the proposed issuance of bonds for a water purification plant brought out only a small vote. But about 300 votes were cast. A majority of almost two to one was given in favor of the bonds.

No one questioned the need for an adequate water supply. And with the proper expenditure of the money which this bond election makes available, we believe that the plant will return great benefits to the town.

County officers took in another still Wednesday afternoon. County Attorney Wheeler, Undersheriff Richter, and Deputy Eichenberger of Florence went out into the hills southwest of Florence and found one of the best equipped stills that they have found — boiler with pressure system heater, double coil, and about a hundred gallons of mash ready to be turned into hootch. The operator was brought to Marion, and given a sentence of thirty days and a fine of a hundred dollars and costs.

A meeting was held at the Methodist church Tuesday night making arrangements to put on a drive for the benefit of Wesley Hospital of Wichita, the new Methodist hospital just completed. Refreshments were served by the ladies of the church after the meeting.
