Last Tuesday morning all of us were very much surprised to see a heavy deposit of snow. The snow was preceded by a lively thunder storm about 2 a.m., which after a few minutes rain turned to snow and by 6:30 we had fourteen inches on the level. In many places the roads were filled with drifts over three feet deep. This snow fall is the greatest in Kansas in twenty years.

The entertainment given by the schools at the Auditorium last Friday evening was a big success. The first part, “The Three Bears,” mostly by the little folks was of interest to almost every family in town and the little folks made fine daisies, fairies, elves, and the rest of the paraphernalia belonging to fairyland.

The best tramp story we have heard this winter was told Tuesday morning. Before C.W. Thompson had the fire built, and you remember how deep the snow was that morning, a tourist knocked at the back door and asked C.W. for some breakfast. As short order lunches were a little out of his line, C.W. gave the fellow a piece of coin and told him to go up town and get breakfast. A short time after, while the family was at breakfast, the fellow returned and freed all the walks of the heavy snow—just to show his appreciation of a “lift’ when it was needed.
