City commissioners have entered into a contract with Mr. John Ehrlich to operate and manage the city water and light plant for a period of one year, beginning the first of January.
The annual meeting of Marion County Farmers Institute will be Dec. 15 and 16 in Marion. Several speakers from Kansas State Agricultural College will be here. A special and unexpected feature will be an address by H.S. Martin, who is home from the Philippines, mainly on official business.

County commissioners have let a contract for a new bridge to take the place of the one long known as Dead Man’s Bridge south of town and south of the creamery. This will be a splendid improvement. That place has long been one of the worst around here.
A number of citizens entertained the football boys — both first and second teams — at dinner Tuesday evening. The dinner was served in the big front room at the Marner-Coffman office, and tables were beautifully decorated. After the eats — which were strictly right — there were some talks and yells. The spirit of the occasion was one of fine fellowship.
