Geo. Coy left last week for a holiday visit to his old Ohio home. He carried along a thousand large bills, Wishart & Knapp’s advertisement of their Chable sad iron, which he has evidently scattered to good advantage, as several letters have already been received concerning them from parties along the route.

This hungry scribe helped a lot of other young fellows annihilate a big dinner Monday at the hospitable home of County Clerk Walton.

Several departments of the Marion schools closed the session last Friday afternoon with special exercises. Our “better half” witnessed the exercises in Miss Bown’s room, and reports them very interesting. The generous teacher “treated” her pupils to toothsome “goodies.”

Messrs. S.T. Howe and R.M. Crane, president and cashier of the Kansas National Bank in Topeka, Sundayed with their wives in Marion.

Superintendent Zercher, accompanied by several Marion teachers, accepted an invitation from Chancellor Lippincott and visited the state university in Lawrence on Tuesday.

It is about time to “turn over a new leaf.” Now do try and keep it cleaner than the one you turned over a year ago.

Oh, we like to forgot to wish you a Happy New Year!
