Marion’s new photographer, Mr. E.G. Flemming, is turning out some very fine work. It gratified our “town pride” greatly to see pictures that are product of his gallery. Mr. Flemming has a fine gallery in the Jex block, opposite the RECORD office, where you should go when you want to see yourself as others see you.

A flagstone was taken out of the Kellett quarry the other day, four feet wide and twenty-six feet long.

Marion has the Bell Telephone System in operation with about 100 phones taken. We have connection with Peabody, 16 miles away, and will soon have connection with Osage City, Topeka, Kansas City and other cities east of us, so we are informed by the owner, Mr. A.W. Brewerton.

Bown and Cochran light their fine Eclipse livery stable with incandescent electric lights.

Uncle Will Kellison is “right after” the canning factory, and comes down with a generous proposition for the committee to locate it on his land in west Marion.

An emery wheel flew off its cylinder at the foundry yesterday morning knocking Mr. J.H. Brooks senseless for a while. Dr. Weems attended the wounded man.

A very pleasant double birthday party was held at the residence of Dr. Davis last Friday—the fourteenth anniversary of Miss Pattie Davis and the fifteenth anniversary of Miss Mabel Foote.
