Dr. W.R. Coburn, Marion’s popular dentist, was married Tuesday evening to Miss Kittie Whipple at the residence of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. N.A. Whipple of Wilson township.

Mr. Chas. L. Dean of this city has in his possession a Wm. Henry Harrison emblem—a relic of the campaign of 1840. It is a copper piece about the size of a nickel with a picture of Harrison on one side, a campaign motto on the other.

Mr. Editor: Haven’t we had about enough bear exhibitions in this town? Our gentle pony took a fright the other day at the antics of those intruders and now sees bears, bears, everywhere. For one, I wish the city fathers would exclude these performances from the corporation hereafter. There is evident danger in them to life and limb. For-bearance sometimes ceases to be virtue.

The first Y.M.C.A. building in Kansas is to be dedicated in this city one week from next Sunday. A district conference will be held, beginning with a reception to the delegates the Friday evening preceding.

A glorious rain fell there Monday night accompanied by terrific lightning. It came too late to do some of the corn any good, but most of the crop was greatly benefited, and farmers are feeling much better than they did a week ago.
